Cherrapunji, India (Official)
Cherrapunji is also located in the East Kashi Hill district of the Indian state of Meghalaya. The town is located just 15 KM from the official wettest place on earth the Mawsanram. With an average annual rainfall of 11, 175 mm, Cherrapunji was the previous official wettest place on earth, however, its nearby town Mawsanram dethroned it from its title. The rain is unusually heavy during the monsoon months from June to September when up to 1000 mm per day of rain has been recorded in the past. The town’s climate falls in the Subtropical highland climate (Cwb).
Tutunendo, Columbia (Estimated)
Tutunendo is also located in Columbia, a country in South America. The town is located in the same region where arguably the top two wettest places on earth i.e. the Lopez De Micay and Lloro are located. Tutunendo receives a whopping 11760 mm mm of rain annually placing it in the top five wettest places on Earth. The climate is very humid as it falls in the category of tropical rainforest (Af).
