Dry Winter weather in Pakistan till 20th January: Wet weather Afterward

Most parts of Pakistan are facing arid weather this winter. Moreover, this dry weather is anticipated to last until 20th January 2025. This pattern of very dry weather is being attributed to prevailing La-Nina system. Very few weather WDs were able to reach Pakistan to date and that’s too in weaker condition. As a result, only the northern and some western and eastern areas of the country received some rain and snow.

The weather pattern during December 2024 was similar in most parts of the country where all provinces received remarkably low amounts of rainfall. Against the normal of 13.3 mm of rain average of December, only 1.6mm of rain fell during the whole month. This means December had a deficit of 88 percent. The start of January was also not any different where only one moderate-intensity WD affected upper and western parts of the county. As a result, the month of January is also running a deficit on rain for most of the country.

However, the situation is likely to change after 20th January. We are anticipating a strong WD to impact most parts of the country starting around 21st January. This may change the scenario of rain and snow total completely for January. As this is a long-term forecast, therefore, the situation may change over time. Stay tuned for upcoming active winter weather conditions.
