A new WD has approached the upper parts of the country, causing significant rain and snowfall over high mountains. Areas where precipitation has been recorded over the past 24 hours include upper KPK, particularly Swat Valley, Dir, Mardan, and Naran Kaghan valleys. In Kashmir, areas around Muzzaffarabad and Neelum Valley have recorded rain and snow over high reaches. Similarly, valleys in Gilgit Baltistan received rain while the high mountains were lashed by snow.
The highest rainfall during the last 24 hours was recorded in Malam Jabba with 50 mm of rain recorded till 05 PM on October 29th. The other areas that recorded rain during the same period include Saidu Sharif 49 mm, Lower Dir 43 mm, Upper Dir 22 mm, Pattan 36 mm, Balakot 31 mm, Astore 33 mm, Mardan 11 mm, Muzaffarabad City 11 mm, Muzaffarabad AP 07 mm, Chillas 10 mm, Skardu 08 mm, Bunji, Kalam, and Drosh 06 mm each, Gilgit 04 mm, Kakul, Hunza, and Bagrot each 02 mm.
Similarly, snowfall was recorded during the last 24 hours in high mountainous regions of the country, including Babusar Top, Upper Kalam Valley, Upper Naran Kaghan Valley, Deosai Plateau, Upper Neelum Valley, and the Upper reaches of Chitral Valley.
As a result of this rain and snow, temperatures are reduced significantly in these areas. After the passage of this WD cool air mass is likely to impact the upper and central parts of the country. This may result in the reduction of temperature over most parts of the country with 2-4C reduction in most parts, bringing much-needed respite from warm temperatures over plain areas of the country.
